I have decided to dedicate my first post to something I feel very strongly about, living a positive lifestyle. Life is too precious to not enjoy every second of it. The main fault in happiness is the source of where it originates from. Being an optimist has given me the perspective of always looking on the brighter side of life. Below are a few steps listed to help guide the way into a view of how living is meant to be.
- Get off technology. The first step towards any goal is always the hardest, but believe me when I say it is the best. Instead of investing time being wrapped up in the newest Snapchat filter, or what is trending on Twitter, go for a walk. It is amazing how much the mind is able to breathe after a break behind a screen. It gives you the chance to refocus on the important things in life. Notice how life is flourishing, through the vibrant green of the leaves on trees or the sky acting as a canvas being painted by the clouds. Live in the moment, not through a screen.
- Explore new horizons. Don’t stick to the same old routine everyday, you will find that soon boredom will overthrow any positivity left. Try new hobbies, such as photography or cooking! It’s okay to venture out, be spontaneous , who knows… maybe your true calling will become apparent.
- Surround yourself with people who support you. There is nothing worse than being excited for something new and a friend tears the idea down. You want to be with people who are okay with change. Life moves so fast that when opportunities pop up for change, take initiative and make life meaningful. We only get one shot at this, so every moment counts.
- Loving yourself. I know for me, the biggest struggle to overcome was comparison. I constantly would feel ashamed of myself after seeing a picture of a swimsuit model on Instagram or not being able to fit into a size zero anymore. It is okay to look and be different! Society has made people into robots for thinking that you have to look a certain way to be beautiful. The world is filled with poisonous opinions that in the end should not matter. If you’re genuinely happy with the way you look, you shouldn’t change a damn thing. Nothing is more satisfying than being comfortable in your own skin.
These steps are only a fraction of what can help with accomplishing a positive lifestyle. So take charge of your destiny and live everyday like it’s your last!
